Bangor City 10K & Half Marathon
SUN OCT 4
The Bangor City 10K and Half Marathon offer runners two distance options from a single North Wales race base: a 10K or a half marathon. Both races commence at 10am, with race-day headquarters opening at 8am for number and chip collection. The event takes place in autumn. Runners must maintain a pace under 15 minutes per mile; participants falling outside this pace after the third mile may be removed from the race. The route departs from Bangor’s centre or dockside start area, heading towards the coast. It includes a section along Garth Pier, crossing the Menai Straits. Runners are treated to open views of Anglesey, Snowdonia, and the North Wales coastline before the course transitions to woodland paths and makes its way back to the finish. All finishers will receive a custom medal and a technical T-shirt. Participants should arrange their own pay-and-display parking in town, as there is no designated event parking.
Jones o Gymru Anglesey Trail Half Marathon & 10K
SUN NOV 1
The Jones o Gymru Anglesey Trail Half Marathon & 10K begins in Gwalchmai, near Holyhead on Anglesey, in early March. Participants select either the half marathon or the 10K. The route is undulating, suitable for early-season races and marathon preparation. The course offers runners clear views towards Eryri, also known as Snowdonia, and the Menai Straits. Participants travel from across the UK. First-time runners, charity fundraisers, and experienced athletes start together. The minimum age is 17.
semi-marathon de Conwy
SUN NOV 15
The Conwy Half Marathon begins and ends on the bridge by the quayside, opposite Conwy Castle. This places runners alongside a 700-year-old landmark before they reach race pace. It is a 13.1-mile road half marathon held in Conwy, North Wales, typically in mid-November with a morning start. The participant limit is 4,000, and recent events have seen over 3,000 runners, creating a busy atmosphere without being overwhelmingly large. The route runs alongside the Conwy River, heading towards Deganwy and West Shore Llandudno, then proceeds along Church Walks towards Llandudno Pier. From there, participants circle the Great Orme counter-clockwise, with vistas of the Isle of Anglesey, Puffin Island, and the North Wales coast. The course is largely flat on broad roads, featuring some gradual inclines and descents, and approximately 327 metres of elevation gain. While parts are fast, it is not entirely flat. Runner's World readers recognized it as one of the UK's top five half marathons for scenery, and the event is now in its second decade.
Sea 2 Summit - Offas Dyke Half/Full/Ultra
SUN DEC 6
Sea 2 Summit begins on Prestatyn seafront, leading runners from the coast onto the Offas Dyke footpath in North Wales. The series provides Half Marathon, Marathon, and Ultra distances, all conducted as point-to-point hill races with staggered morning starts to allow slower participants to depart before quicker ones. The course follows National Trail waymarkers into the Clwydian Hills, with the terrain becoming more challenging as it progresses south. The Half Marathon concludes at Moel y Parc Summit, the Marathon at Moel Gyw Summit, and the Ultra proceeds to Horseshoe Pass Summit, passing checkpoints such as Mynydd y Cwm, Grove Hall near Bodfari, Bwlch Penbarras, and Llandegla. No additional race markers are present on the Offas Dyke Footpath, making navigation reliant on national trail signs until the final ascent. Essential equipment is mandated for the terrain and unpredictable weather, with coach transport available for pre-booking, and all finishers will be awarded a custom wooden medal.
Jones o Gymru Anglesey Half Marathon & 10K 2027
SUN MAY 23
The Jones o Gymru Anglesey Half Marathon & 10K begins and ends at Mona Showground, located centrally on Anglesey. Participants can select either the half marathon or the 10K. Both events utilize entirely closed roads, providing a genuine road race atmosphere distinct from routes shared with traffic. The course presents an undulating profile, offering expansive views towards Eryri (Snowdonia) from the start and finish vicinity. From Mona Showground, runners can observe the Menai Strait and the Carneddau and Glyderau mountain ranges, creating a notable start-line backdrop in North Wales. The participants include individuals new to racing, those running for charitable causes, and seasoned athletes. The event also features the Dragons Dash, a one-mile fun run for children.
