Recurring Half Marathon races near Swansea

Races that repeat — weekly, monthly or yearly

Doughnut Dash - Wales
SAT OCT 3
Run as far as you can in seven hours in Dare Valley Country Park. You'll receive a goody bag and a themed medal.
Cardiff Half Marathon
SUN OCT 4
The Cardiff Half Marathon is a road race through Wales’ capital, run each year with a sell-out field of about 27,500 runners. It started in 2003 with 1,500 runners and is now the UK’s second largest half marathon, as well as Wales’ biggest mass-participation and multi-charity fundraising event. The course is flat and fast, passing Cardiff Castle, the Principality Stadium, the Civic Centre and Cardiff Bay. The field stretches from first-timers and charity fundraisers to club runners and world-class athletes, with separate elite races for men, women and wheelchair racers. Crowds line the route in large numbers, and the race also sits in the SuperHalfs series alongside Lisbon, Prague, Berlin, Copenhagen and Valencia.
Weston Super Half
SUN OCT 4
The Weston Super Half concludes on Weston-super-Mare’s Grand Pier, a distinctive feature distinguishing it from typical seaside half marathons. This autumn half marathon centers on Marine Parade in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, and includes shorter races like the Community Mile and a Fun Run alongside the main event. The course crosses the Weston coastline via closed roads, incorporates a segment on the beach, and passes through a nature reserve. Participants are treated to open sea views before reaching the pier for the finish. The event utilizes chip timing, retains historical results, and attracts charity runners, such as those fundraising for the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity with their "Make your seconds count" initiative.
Scare Bear Run 2026 - Wales
SAT OCT 17
Scare Bear Run is a themed running event in Wales, centered on a 7-hour time challenge. Participants select their own distance, starting with a minimum of 3km and adding laps as desired within the time limit. A lap is 4.37 miles (7km), though the organizer might use a 3.28-mile loop if course conditions necessitate. Runners of all abilities are welcome, including walkers. The finisher's reward is a medal inspired by the Care Bears.
RTT Gower Trail Half Marathon & 10K
SUN OCT 18
The Gower Trail Half Marathon & 10K takes place at Oxwich Bay, on the Gower Peninsula near Swansea, Wales. It marks the start of the RTT Series, offering runners their initial opportunity to earn points in the overall standings. The event features a self-navigated half marathon, alongside marked 10K and 5K routes. This race has been postponed; a new date is pending. The routes traverse coastal paths, woodland trails, rough terrain, and sand dunes, emphasizing the need for route awareness in this trail race. The half marathon is entirely self-navigated with checkpoints, while the 10K and 5K routes are marked. The event includes chip timing, aid stations, checkpoints, and a finisher’s medal. The start times are staggered, with the half marathon beginning before the shorter races.
Cardiff Taff Trail Half Marathon
SUN OCT 18
The Cardiff Taff Trail Half Marathon begins at Pontcanna Fields Car Park, directing runners into one of Cardiff’s primary green spaces. This chip-timed half marathon features online entry, an 08:30 start, and race-number collection prior to the start. With a 3-hour cutoff, it is structured as an efficient city race, not an extended trail excursion. The course crosses Pontcanna Fields and Bute Park before proceeding north on the Taff Trail towards Tongwynlais. The majority of the route follows tarmac paths, with a brief compacted section. Aid stations are located at approximately 2.5, 6.25, and 10.25 miles. The event originated as a pilot and resumed post-Covid cancellations, offering Cardiff a smaller Taff Trail half to complement the city's larger October road race.
Cardiff 1.5k, 5k, 10k & Half Marathon MoRun
SUN NOV 1
MoRun Cardiff is a Movember running event held at Coopers Field in Bute Park, near the city end and central Cardiff. It features four distances on the same morning: a Half Marathon, 10k, 5k, and a 1.5k Mini MoRun for children and families. The Half Marathon begins first, followed by the 5k and 10k, with the Mini MoRun later. Registration opens early, race numbers and timing chips are collected on site, and all distances are chip timed with instant results at the finish. The route follows the paths of Bute Park, with runners grouped by estimated finish time and staggered at the start to prevent path congestion. The field is broad: half marathon runners, 10k and 5k runners, children, families, friends, first-timers, fundraisers, and those attending for the Movember spirit. Fancy dress is part of the day, and participants are encouraged to grow a moustache or paint one on. Every finisher receives a MoRun medal and headband, with additional prizes for fastest MoBro, fastest MoSista, best dressed, and best Mo. The event supports Movember, raising money and awareness for prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention.
Cardiff 1,5 km, 5 km, 10 km & Semi-Marathon MoRun
SAT NOV 7
The Cardiff MoRun takes place in November at Bute Park, Coopers Field, offering races of 1.5 km, 5 km, 10 km, and a half marathon. Races begin in the morning, and chip timing is used for all distances, including the children's Mini MoRun, providing runners with immediate results. The atmosphere is intentionally festive, with a clear structure: choose a short family-friendly run, a standard 5k or 10k, or the full 21.0975 km half marathon. The courses cover Cardiff city grounds and public park areas. The 5k, 10k, and half marathon are each designed as single-loop routes. This event is part of the larger MoRunning series supporting Movember, which raises funds and awareness for men's health issues such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention. Participants can donate during registration or create a fundraising page. All MoRunners receive a medal and a MoRunning headband. The event welcomes everyday runners, families, children, and friends, not exclusively club racers.
Beacons Ultra, Marathon & Half Marathon
SAT NOV 7
The Beacons Ultra, Marathon & Half Marathon is a November trail race weekend held at Henderson Hall in Talybont-on-Usk, situated at the foothills of the Brecon Beacons in Wales. Participants can select a 13-mile half marathon, a marathon, or an approximately 50-mile ultra. The longer race combines trail, mountain, canal, and road running. The marathon follows one loop of the ultra course and includes a climb of Pen y Fan, while the half marathon route remains nearer to Talybont-on-Usk. Weather is a factor: the event has occurred in bright sunshine, rain, mist, and temperatures as low as minus 8 degrees. The broader Beacons ultra running context also features the 100-mile Beacons Way Ultra, a self-navigating race starting at Abergavenny Castle along the Beacons Way National Trail. This race has ten checkpoints, 6,143 metres of ascent, includes Pen y Fan and the Carmarthen Fans, uses GPS tracking, and requires prior mountain and ultramarathon experience for entry.
Afan Forest Half Marathon & 10K
SAT NOV 14
Trail Revolution Margam Trail Races
SAT NOV 14
Trail Revolution Margam Trail Races are November trail runs in Margam Park, with 5km, 10km, and half marathon options. The setting is parkland and forest rather than road, and the routes use undulating trails that make the event more about handling changing ground than chasing a flat fast time. The half marathon starts first in the morning, followed by the 10km and then the 5km, so runners can choose anything from a short forest race to a longer test around Margam. The event sits under the Trail Revolution banner and is aimed at runners who want hills, woodland, and a tougher surface underfoot.

About Half Marathon races in Swansea

Swansea Training Notes

Swansea hosts 26 Half Marathon races in 2026 within 80 km of the city centre — upcoming dates, recurring series, and other races nearby, all in one place.

Locals get their easy miles on the Swansea Seafront route, because the line from SA1 to Mumbles gives about 7 miles of flat coastal rhythm. Swansea Bay parkrun starts every Saturday at 9 AM from The Secret Beach Bar & Kitchen, and RAD Runners leave Beer Riff in Swansea Marina on Tuesdays at 6.30 PM for 5km or 8km. Swansea Striders meet Thursdays at 6 PM from Strand Car Park and Sundays at 10:30 AM from the Recreation Ground car park. Swansea Bay 10K, The Swansea 5K, Swansea Half Marathon and IRONMAN 70.3 Swansea are the anchor events.

Locals ride the Swansea Bay cycle route when they want clean Z2, because Swansea Prom runs for 5 miles along the sweep of Swansea Bay. NCN Route 4, NCN Route 43 and the Celtic Trail link the city into proper base miles, while Clyne Valley Country Park keeps the legs turning away from the front. Swansea CTC rides Sundays and Wednesdays from spots like the Marina, Killay, Gowerton, Briton Ferry and Neath, and Swansea Wheelers, Swansea Velo Club and Gower Riders fill the bunch-ride calendar. Constitution Hill, Rhossili Down, Llanmadoc Hill, the Lliw uplands and the Black Mountain foothills hold the climbs.

Swansea works best when the days are longer, and summer gives the Gower off-road cycle network mostly dry riding across its 27 kilometres of paths. The coastline still catches rain-bearing Atlantic winds, so locals keep one eye on the prom before intervals or a steady spin. Peak holiday season changes the feel on some Gower roads, while the bay still gives runners space for tempo work and easy doubles. Winter makes some off-road routes muddy or even boggy, and the same wind that sharpens a run home can turn a ride back into honest cyclocross practice.
