Day of the Dead Half Marathon - Fort Worth
SAT OCT 3
Honor life and tradition at this festive event, winding through Texas parks, including Marine Creek Lake. The course goes through landscapes, lakes, and trees, highlighting nature's beauty. As the morning air fills with the scent of marigolds, runners start a journey through nature's tranquility, with a scene of Texas beauty at the finish. A post-race gathering offers Mexican treats and drinks, while a costume contest invites participants of all ages and experience levels to run and celebrate in Day of the Dead style.
Beer City Half Fort Worth
SAT OCT 10
The Beer City Half Fort Worth is a Saturday morning race and beer event held at Panther Island Pavilion in Fort Worth, Texas. Participants can select a half marathon, 10K, or 5K. For a more relaxed option, there's a 1-mile Beer Stroll around Panther Island and the Beat The Beast Beer Mile later in the morning. The main races begin early, followed by a shift towards beer tasting and the Beer City Festival. All runners receive a shirt, a Key to Beer City finisher’s medal, and a custom tasting glass, with unlimited tasting provided post-run. This event marks the Texas kickoff for the Beer City Half series, focusing on Fort Worth and Texas brewers for the post-race festivities.
Purple Dress Run
SAT OCT 24
The Purple Dress Run takes place in Mansfield, Texas, with the goal of raising awareness for domestic violence by encouraging participants to wear purple. Participants can select a half marathon, 10K, 5K, 1-mile race, or a virtual option. The longer races commence in the morning, followed shortly by the shorter races at James McKnight Park. The requirement for purple attire extends beyond a simple theme; purple is the recognized color for domestic violence awareness. Participants are encouraged to wear a purple dress, shirt, costume, or any other item signifying support for survivors. Proceeds from the event benefit Chozn 2 Outreach, an organization that provides household items and clothing to individuals and families in need. The event welcomes participants of all fitness levels, catering to walkers, first-time racers, and community groups, as well as runners aiming to achieve specific distance goals.
Justice Run Fort Worth
SAT OCT 24
Justice Run Fort Worth begins and ends at Panther Island Pavilion in Fort Worth, Texas. It takes place in the fall as part of the Justice Run series. Participants can select from a 5K, 10K, half marathon, or full marathon, accommodating walkers, new runners, and experienced marathoners. The race supports the fight against human trafficking, particularly sex trafficking. Proceeds benefit The Justice Residence, a 100-bed home for survivors, providing housing, care, resources, and opportunities for women rebuilding their lives. Fort Worth is one of several Justice Run locations, including Austin and a Washington, D.C. event, all supporting the same campaign. The event serves as a call to action, with participants running to raise awareness and demonstrate opposition to trafficking.

SUN NOV 1
Vibha Dallas Dream Mile 2026
SUN NOV 15
The Vibha Dallas Dream Mile begins at 200 N Buckner Blvd in Dallas, offering participants a choice of a 5K, 10K, or half marathon. This is a charity road race supporting Vibha, a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on education and learning outcomes for underprivileged children, primarily through government schools in India. Dallas is one of the locations in the Dream Mile series, which originated with volunteer races in Dallas, the Bay Area, and Atlanta before expanding to over 20 cities. The series has generated more than $3 million, benefiting over 180,000 children. Vibha's overall initiatives have funded over 300 social entrepreneurs and invested more than $25 million in programs. The Dallas event also contributes to local service efforts via partners like Warm Up America, Tango Charities, and Study Buddy, a program providing year-round tutoring and mentorship to approximately 30 Bhutanese refugee children.
Pumpkin Spice Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K
SAT NOV 21
The Pumpkin Spice Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K is a fall race series in Fort Worth, Texas, starting from the Purcey Street area near the Trinity River. Participants can select the half marathon, 10K, or 5K, accommodating those aiming for a longer distance as well as families or newer runners seeking a shorter option. The theme aligns with its name: pumpkin spice, fall treats, and a post-race gathering featuring coffee, hot chocolate, beer, and snacks. The courses utilize the Trinity River area's shaded paths and broad streets, offering pace groups and additional support on the half marathon route, including hydration, gels, and restrooms. All finishers receive a custom medal, custom bib, and long sleeve tech shirt. The post-race celebration includes DJ Dame, Mindy Lu Pies, Dannon treats, pumpkin spice items, and a beer garden for those 21 and older. The event also features a pumpkin pie eating contest and a fall costume contest, with registration discounts available for youth, seniors, and groups of four or more.

Thanksgiving Gobble Trot Run 5K/10K/13.1 DALLAS FORT WORTH
SAT NOV 28
The Thanksgiving Turkey Gobble Trot in Dallas-Fort Worth is a private group run with limited wave sizes, so registration may close once each wave is full. This annual event takes place during the Thanksgiving season and offers 5K, 10K, and half marathon distances. Participants may run or walk, rather than viewing it as a formal, chip-timed competition. The organizer sends final details and course maps via email on the Wednesday before the race, with bibs distributed on race day. Families, friends, community groups, newcomers, and experienced runners are welcome. Participants under 18 require a guardian. Timing is optional; runners can use an app, submit results online, or seek assistance from coordinators. Registration covers a shirt mailed to U.S. addresses, a finisher medal, a towel or giveaway item, a digital training pack, online results, a completion certificate, and an invitation to local run clubs.
A Merry Christmas Run 5K/10K/13.1 DALLAS FORT WORTH
SAT DEC 26
The New Year New Me Run in Dallas-Fort Worth is a small-group run on the Trinity River Trail in Fort Worth, offering 5K, 10K, and half marathon distances. It is scheduled for the start of the year, focusing on goal-setting and a low-pressure atmosphere rather than intense competition. Waves have participant caps and may close once full. Runners can participate in person or select a virtual option if unable to attend the Fort Worth event. Walkers are welcome, and participants under 18 require a guardian. The course utilizes the Trinity River Trail, avoiding city streets. The event's setup is intentionally straightforward: no timing chips, no pre-race packet pickup, though coordinators are available to assist anyone wishing to track their finish time. Participants can use apps like Strava, RunKeeper, or Nike Run to record their own run and submit results online for a certificate. Swag, including a running shirt, finisher medal, and a towel or giveaway, is mailed to registrants; bibs are distributed on race day. The event also directs runners to local run clubs, aligning with its emphasis on beginners, returning runners, and individuals using the new year for a fitness reset.
New Years Double
THU DEC 31
The New Years Double is a two-day running series held on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Participants can choose to run on either day or participate in multiple races over the holiday. It functions more as a shared New Year ritual than a singular start-line event. The series emphasizes finisher awards: all participants receive a race shirt and medal. Runners completing multiple events across the two days earn an additional award. Couples, families, and groups of friends frequently attend together. The event focuses on substantial finisher items rather than small medals.
The 2027 Cowtown Race Weekend
FRI FEB 26
The Cowtown Race Weekend is an annual running event in Fort Worth, held on the last weekend of February. It is the largest multi-event race in North Texas, offering runners and walkers a variety of distances: Kids 5K, Adults 5K, 10K, half marathon, full marathon, relay, and a 50K road ultramarathon with a 7.5-hour cutoff. The shorter races typically start first. The 5K attracts over 5,000 participants, and the 10K brings more than 2,000 on a course combining city roads and riverfront paths. The half marathon and marathon routes traverse Fort Worth streets, with the half often seeing around 5,000 participants and the marathon also drawing thousands. The ultra utilizes the road course, but runners who do not meet the cutoff may be assisted by sag vehicles, and course support concludes after the time limit. The children's 5K is open to all, though only participants under 17 are eligible for age-group awards. All race distances are also available virtually.

About Half Marathon races in Dallas

Dallas Training Notes

Dallas hosts 26 Half Marathon races in 2026 within 80 km of the city centre — upcoming dates, recurring series, and other races nearby, all in one place.

The Katy Trail runs 10 miles with skyline views and plenty of room to settle into Z2. The trail runs 5 miles from American Airlines Center to SMU, and locals use it for social miles when it is not packed. Santa Fe Trail connects White Rock Lake to Deep Ellum, and runners use it to add distance without overthinking the route. Dallas Running Club has nearly 2,000 members and a Wednesday Meet Up Social Run with 1 Mi, 5K, and 10K options. BMW Dallas Marathon is the big anchor event downtown, while Hot Trot Half Marathon and the 28th Annual Katy 5K keep the calendar busy.

Trinity River Levees are the go-to for gravel, and locals can follow more than 40 miles of track either on top of the levees or down inside them. White Rock Lake is still the daily spin, with the loop running 9 to 11 miles depending on the line. Santa Fe Trail is the clean route from Downtown toward White Rock and the East Dallas rides. DFW Gravel Grinders and Trinity Gravel Grinders keep the dirt crowd moving, while Critical Mass Dallas rolls on the last Friday of every month. Bike the Bluebonnets gives riders an anchor event, and Dallas Dirty Thirty gives the legs a harder target. Lakewood gives small hills, while bridges and levees handle most of the climbing.

March through May gives Dallas runners and cyclists the best training window, with spring weather that makes intervals and long Z2 days feel normal. September through November gives the second good block, and fall is the cleanest time to stack base miles before BMW Dallas Marathon season. Summer turns very hot and humid, with highs regularly over 32°C and heat indices past 40°C, so locals go early, go short, or keep it easy. Winter stays mostly mild around 13°C daytime highs in January, but cold spells can drop below freezing and make group rides, trail runs, and cyclocross-style mud days feel different fast.
