Spokes for Strokes

Spokes for Strokes is an annual charity bike ride hosted by Baptist Health Paducah in western Kentucky. Riders start and finish at the hospital’s Imaging Center, with registration opening in the morning and the ride beginning at 8 a.m. Helmets are required. The event focuses on stroke awareness: helping people learn how to spot strokes, prevent them, and support better local stroke care. The ride offers four marked route options through McCracken, Marshall, and Graves counties, allowing participants to choose a distance that suits them. The shortest route is a flatter 10-mile ride in McCracken County, while longer options include 20, 35, and 65 miles, with rolling hills on the 20- and 65-mile courses. All routes include SAG support, rest stops, refreshments, and toilet facilities. Funds raised go toward life-saving technology and expanded stroke care services, connecting a community ride with a health mission.

Tour de Corn

Tour de Corn is a cycling event organized by Palace City Pedalers during an August weekend. It features a main ride, a night ride, and a singletrack ride on different days. Based on the available information, it is not an elite-only race; it resembles a community bike series with associated group and family events. Helmets are mandatory for all rides, and night riders must use front and rear lights. The riding terrain includes pavement, singletrack, a pump track, and a jumpline. Trail use is subject to weather conditions, as they can change rapidly, and the singletrack should not be used when wet. Class 1 e-bikes are permitted, but Class 2, Class 3, and gas-powered bikes are prohibited. Other Palace City Pedalers rides consist of a Tuesday evening ride starting at Palace City Brewery and a Sunday singletrack ride from Kiwanis Park, indicating a local club structure that caters to riders of various ages and abilities.

About cycling & running in Paducah

Paducah Base Miles

Running: Locals run Paducah from The Coke Plant, the Greenway Trail, Noble Park, and the streets around Lower Town Arts District. The 6-mile loop starts and ends at The Coke Plant and passes the Legendary Chief Paduke Statue, Frenchtown Station, the Lower Town Arts District, and the National Quilt Museum. The 8-mile loop uses the Greenway Trail into Bob Noble Park, and the 10-mile loop keeps going past Brooks Stadium and Robert Coleman Park and Sprayground. West Kentucky Runners Club has been active since 2004 and keeps the community side strong. Run Under The Stars™ is the anchor event at Carson Park.

Cycling: Locals ride flat base miles across McCracken County, then head south when they want rolling hills. The Greenway Trail gives riders 5 miles across the north side of Paducah, with packed gravel from Stuart Nelson Park to Bob Noble Park and 3 miles of concrete from Noble Park east to Campbell Street. Chain Reaction Cycling Club runs weekly group rides, and the Monday Evening ride gives locals 14, 20, 20, and 28 mile options. Spokes for Strokes 2026 has 65 miles with rolling hills, plus 35, 20, and 10 mile routes. LBL sits 30 miles east with hard packed singletrack and Canal Loop Trail miles.

Season: Summer mornings belong to early Z2, Greenway miles, and Noble Park laps before the public pool opens Tuesday through Sunday afternoons. Locals use the city’s flat roads for steady base miles, then save south Paducah rollers or LBL23K-style gain for harder days. Winter changes the rhythm more than the routes. West Kentucky Runners hosts Group Run Under the Lights at Noble Park on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 6:30 am, and riders keep it practical with downtown streets, the Greenway Trail, and lighter group miles when cold mornings hit.
