The Summer Sizzler Triathlon takes place at Beaver Island State Park, with the swim in the Niagara River. Its unique offering is the Formula 1 Triathlon: a 400-meter swim, 10-mile bike, and 1.8-mile run, repeated. The race day also features a sprint triathlon, aquabike, duathlon, sprint relay, and a new Formula 1 duathlon.
Most events follow the same basic course, but the Formula 1 triathlon includes a second swim. The Niagara River swim begins from the beach in a time-trial format, with athletes starting two or three at a time after crossing timing mats. The sprint may be raced solo or as a relay; the Formula 1 races, aquabike, and duathlon are individual events only.
