À propos de cette course
The International Goral Marathon begins at the tripoint of Slovakia, Poland, and the Czech Republic, starting at Trojmedzie before runners enter the Beskydy mountains. This is a late-summer mountain race, not a city marathon, offering running, cycling, and Nordic walking options. The primary running distances vary from a 6.8 km minimarathon with 217 m elevation gain to extended mountain challenges: 50 km with 1,950 m gain, 73 km with 2,973 m, and 93 km with 3,822 m. A 26.6 km half marathon with 833 m of gain is also part of the event, indicating that even the shorter competitive races require climbing ability.
The routes traverse forest paths, field tracks, asphalt, paved sections, and bike paths, passing through border villages and along ridges near locations like Jaworzynka, Hrčava, Svrčinovec, Čierne-Zagrúnie, Liesková, Oselné, Skalité-Trojaka, Złoty Groń, and Ochodzita. The designation “Run of Friendship of Three Nations” accurately reflects the course, as participants cross the cultural and geographic nexus of the three countries, beyond a simple marked route. Trail runners, marathoners, ultra runners, cyclists, Nordic walkers, and long-distance hikers participate, with the program featuring Goral world championship events in Nordic walking and mountain half marathon. Aid stations provide water, ion drinks, bananas, melon, and sweets, and the finish at Trojmedzie offers local refreshments including kofola, beer, and goulash.
