Castellón de la Plana

Castellón sits on Spain's eastern coast with flat terrain through the city itself, but serious runners and cyclists head inland to the Sierra de Espadán just 30km west. The region's cycling signature is the long-distance mountain routes: La 10 Picos Sierra de Espadán (139km) and the brutal Gigante de Piedra (200km) climb into scrubby limestone peaks around 800–1000m elevation. Runners find flatter options along the coastal plain and parkland, though the hillier inland trails near Peñíscola and Olocau del Rei offer elevation training within an hour's drive.
