OktoberFeast
SAM OCT 3
OktoberFeast is an Oktoberfest road race held at Mighty Squirrel in Waltham, Massachusetts, offering both a 5K and a 5-mile distance for runners and walkers. The brewery organizes the event as part of its Oktoberfest party, with the race day structured around a morning run followed by beer, live music, and access to the outdoor biergarten and taproom. The race is chip-timed, with overall awards determined by gun time and age-group awards by chip time. The event accommodates groups: strollers and dogs may participate if they start at the rear, walkers are welcome, and teams can compete for awards and VIP tents. Each participant receives a hat and two drink tickets. Guests can attend the party without charge and purchase their own beer. Awards are presented broadly for both race distances, recognizing top overall male and female finishers, age-group victors, the fastest co-ed team, and a party-team prize for teams with a minimum of 10 runners.
Falla Walla Half Marathon, 10K & Heroes 5K Run
SAM OCT 3
Falla Walla is a fall race series held at Walla Walla Community College, located on the east side of Walla Walla, Washington. The series includes a half marathon, 10K, and Heroes 5K. Runners and walkers begin a few minutes apart in the morning. This is the fifth year for the event, which is designed around autumn terrain rather than a flat road race. The course begins on asphalt nature paths before transitioning to gravel service roads near Bennington Lake. Half marathon participants will also complete an out-and-back section on a chip-sealed county road before merging with the latter portion of the 10K course. Runners can anticipate views of the Blue Mountains, wheat fields, grapevines, open grassland, wooded areas, and fall foliage. However, this is not a course conducive to setting personal records, as it features rolling hills. There is climbing on the outbound leg, a quicker return segment for the half marathon, and hilly final two miles for both the 10K and half marathon. Strollers and dogs are prohibited, and early registrants will receive a race T-shirt.
Bethlehem Lutheran Fall Fest
SAM OCT 17
Bethlehem Lutheran Fall Fest is a school fundraiser in Richland, Washington, featuring one-mile and 5k races along the river at Howard Amon Park. The event began in 2000, initiated by parents, teachers, and supporters of Bethlehem Lutheran School, and it now attracts hundreds of children and adults annually each fall. The races are integrated into a larger Fall Fest that includes bounce houses, games, and local food vendors, giving it the atmosphere of a school-community day rather than an event exclusively for runners. Registration fees for both distances are modest, and the fundraising goal is to support school improvements, such as a book vending machine and an updated library.
Gobbler 5K, 10K, 13.1M at Pasco, WA (47)
SAM NOV 21
The Viking 5K, 10K, and half marathon in Pasco, Washington begins at 8:30 AM next to the Chiawana Park Boat Ramp within Chiawana Park. This US Road Running event offers three distances on the same race morning. All participants must register in advance via RunSignup, as no race-day registration will be available. The courses consist of straightforward out-and-back routes. The longer races are constructed from repeats: the 5K follows the route once, the 10K completes it twice, and the half marathon requires four repeats. Participants have 3 hours and 30 minutes to complete their chosen distance. The event provides finisher medals, awards, series points, a gear shop, and a best costume award, reflecting US Road Running’s relaxed series format alongside the timed race.
Climb 89
VEN DÉC 4
Climb 89 is a hill-repeat running challenge at Badger Mountain Westgate Trailhead in Richland, Washington. The concept is to ascend the same short pitch repeatedly. The route measures 0.35 miles one way, with each lap gaining 89 meters (292 feet), causing the elevation gain to accumulate rapidly. Participants run out and back on the marked course as many times as possible within the event duration. The 100-lap option totals approximately the height of Mount Everest. The lap benchmarks provide the race's framework: 13 laps equate to Rattlesnake Mountain, 29 to Mount St. Helens, 50 to Mount Rainier, 70 to Denali, 85 to Annapurna III, and 100 reaches the Everest benchmark of 29,032 feet. Prizes are awarded based on laps completed, allowing participants to target a smaller mountain or continue toward the full Everesting distance. Delta Endurance LLC organizes the event, offering food and snacks. A cash prize is available for setting a course record, and finishers achieving the Everest-level ascent can seek entry into the Everesting Hall of Fame.
