Mes notes d'entraînement sur Omaha

Omaha accueille 14 courses de 10K en 2026 dans un rayon de 80 km du centre-ville — dates à venir, séries récurrentes et autres courses à proximité, le tout au même endroit.

Ici, les coureurs font des kilomètres tranquilles sur Lake Zorinsky, Standing Bear Lake, Keystone Trail, Big Papio Trail, et West Papio Trail. Lake Zorinsky, c'est une boucle est de 3 miles et une boucle ouest de 4 miles. Du coup, avec des allers-retours, tu passes facilement de quatre à cinq ou six miles sans te prendre la tête. Standing Bear Lake fait presque exactement 3 miles le tour, et la Chalco Hills Rec. Area propose des boucles de 4 et 6 miles autour de Lake Wehrspann. L'Omaha Running Club, lui, a toujours un calendrier bien rempli. Le DUNDEE DASH 5K, le Stampede 5k, The Cookie Mile, le bRUNch5k et le Market to Market Relay Nebraska, ce sont les noms incontournables que tout le monde connaît ici.

Pour le vélo, on se sert de Keystone Trail et Big Papio Trail pour des sorties Z2 tranquilles, et après on met plus d'efforts sur West Papio Trail, Bellevue Loop Trail, Wabash Nature Trail, et Council Bluffs Trail. L'Omaha Velo, c'est plutôt cool et décontracté ; Harvest Racing, c'est pour ceux qui veulent la course ; et OMG, ils font leurs sorties gravel le mercredi soir de mars à novembre. Le Prairie Bloom Cycling Club a des cyclistes un peu partout, à Omaha, Lincoln et entre les deux. Dutch Hall, c'est notre terrain de jeu pour les bosses, avec Lots of Dutch Hall Hills 1 qui fait 20.8 miles et Lots of Dutch Hall Hills 2 qui fait 22.5 miles. Le Glenwood Gravel Grinder, Biketober 2025, et les sorties Louisville 50k et 100k, ça fait bien parler d'elles pour les événements.

De mars à novembre, c'est le meilleur rythme d'entraînement pour Omaha, surtout pour les sorties gravel d'OMG et les base miles réguliers. L'été, les fontaines à eau sont de retour à Lake Zorinsky, et même si le soleil tape, on continue de partir tôt quand on a des intervalles ou des sorties longues au programme. Les boucles autour des lacs sont toujours pratiques quand l'ombre se fait rare, et les kilomètres sur le Riverfront Trail le long du Missouri River, c'est top avant que la chaleur ne monte. L'hiver, ça change plus la tenue que le parcours. Le groupe du mardi continue de rouler toute l'année, souvent en jean quand il fait froid, tandis que les coureurs restent sur les chemins bétonnés quand les conditions le permettent.
