Participants can select a 5K, 10K, or half marathon. Each distance follows a repeated out-and-back format. Registration is exclusively through RunSignup; no on-site sign-ups are available. Packet pickup begins 30 minutes before the start and concludes 10 minutes prior. The 5K and 10K use a 1.56-mile out-and-back loop, with 5K runners completing it twice and 10K runners completing it four times. The half marathon utilizes a 2.18-mile out-and-back loop, repeated six times. This course design is straightforward but can become mentally repetitive. All distances have a 3-hour, 30-minute time limit, emphasizing pacing more for half marathoners than for shorter race participants.

This fall road race, organized by the Hillsborough Running Club, features routes that wind through the town’s historic streets, along river paths, and past notable landmarks. The half marathon route crosses "over the river and through the woods," continues along the Riverwalk greenway beside the Eno River, and incorporates a section of the Occoneechee Speedway Trail.
