The Unforeseen is a trail race held in November where participants learn the final distance only when a pair of dice is rolled just before the 8 a.m. start. The course consists of a 2.25-mile loop, meaning the race length can range from 4.5 to 27 miles, determined by the dice roll.
The loop follows smooth, flowing trails with occasional roots and rocks. The aid station is located at the pavilion, near where the course begins and ends. The first-place finisher receives a Damascus steel fixed-blade knife crafted by Peter Mignone of Arbor Novo. Volunteers are awarded an entry into a race of their choice.
