Charlotte's running scene centers on the relatively flat terrain around Uptown and South End, with the Catawba River Greenway offering miles of uninterrupted paths for easy miles. Cyclists have strong road racing traditions anchored by the CCT Metric Century Ride, a 100km loop through the Piedmont's gentle rolling country roads, plus longer gravel and road events like Robin's Ride for Hope that push into the surrounding rural networks. The city sits at about 220 metres elevation with hot, humid summers that push most serious training into early mornings or fall and winter months.
