Balatońska Mila

Balatońska Mila is a three-race running series in Wodzisław Śląski, centered on the mile distance: 1609 meters. Each round begins at 11:30 AM and provides two options: the individual Balatońska Mile, or the Family Balatońska Mile. For the family option, a parent runs 1200 meters and a child under 18 completes the remaining 409 meters as a two-person team. The event targets families with children and solo runners seeking a short, timed race over a long-distance challenge. The series takes place at various local venues, including Rodzinny Park Rozrywki "Trzy Wzgórza", Stadion Aleja on Bogumińska street, and concludes at the Recreational Center "Balaton". The courses incorporate asphalt, gravel, and sand, meaning the mile is not solely a flat track effort. Electronic timing with return chips is used. Participants require a medical certificate or a fitness declaration; minors also need consent from a parent or guardian. A notable tradition involves medals: each participant receives a commemorative medal after every edition, with the three medals forming a single combined design. The top three finishers in the individual Balatońska Mile are awarded trophies and material prizes.
