Race to Cure Sarcoma Denver is an annual event in Denver featuring a timed 5K run, an untimed 5K run, or a 1-mile walk. Virtual options are available for those unable to attend in person. Adult registration costs $35, while children ages 6 to 12 can register for $10. Registration remains open until 8:30 AM MDT on race morning. The participants include not only runners seeking a specific time but also families, children, walkers, survivors, supporters, and individuals fundraising in honor of someone affected by sarcoma.
The event is part of the Sarcoma Foundation of America’s Race to Cure Sarcoma series. This series utilizes local races to fund research and increase awareness of sarcoma, a rare cancer that can develop in bone or connective tissues like muscle, fat, nerves, blood vessels, and tissue around joints. The Denver campaign has a fundraising goal of $90,000. Individual fundraisers and teams, such as Super Mario, Team Dave Hughes, Purple Cancer Beaters, The Joel Memorial League, and Dave’s Legacy, are already contributing. This broader cause benefits over 200,000 sarcoma patients and their families, making the race both a community gathering and a practical fundraiser for research.
