The CHSFW Rubber Ducky is an October race held at Burnaby Lake Regional Park in Burnaby, offering 5K, 7 Mile, and Half Marathon distances. The 7 Mile and Half Marathon routes complete a full circuit of Burnaby Lake. Participants must use a tag for timing; those without a tag will not receive a recorded result. The race course shares Burnaby Lake with the Shamrock’n Race in March, but the direction of the loop is reversed. Shamrock’n runs the 7 Mile and Half Marathon clockwise, whereas Rubber Ducky runs them counterclockwise. Burnaby Lake, situated centrally within the city, is a wildlife sanctuary featuring birds and animals along its trails. The lake was formed by a glacier approximately 12,000 years ago, and its shores were later sites for sawmills in the late 1800s, giving the course a historical context beyond a standard park loop.

Participants can select a 5K, 10K, or half marathon, accommodating walkers, casual runners, and those seeking a longer timed competition. The event utilizes shoe-tag timing, a finish-line clock, and in-person results, with tags gathered post-finish. The course traces the Seawall along Stanley Park’s northern, western, and southern shores, offering clear vistas of downtown Vancouver, the North Shore mountains, and the Lions Gate Bridge. Stanley Park, Vancouver’s original park, spans 400 hectares, placing the race alongside forests of cedar, hemlock, and fir, as well as the coastline. The event maintains a practical local-race atmosphere, featuring a group warm-up led by The Morgan Method, no race-day registration, and a Yellow Bib option for participants entering after standard merchandise and medals are gone.

Qui a Nanaimo, quando uno vuole macinare chilometri di base senza pensarci troppo, si va a correre a Bowen, Buttertubs, sull'E&N, sul Parkway Trail e al Waterfront Loop. Frontrunners Nanaimo è al 1825 Bowen Road, quindi un sacco di percorsi sembrano partire naturalmente da lì. Westwood Lake è perfetto per giri facili in Z2, sia sull'asfalto che sui sentieri battuti. Il percorso Rural Forest, lungo 61 km e con +512m di dislivello, lo si usa quando si vuole fare una bella fatica lunga. La Run for Recovery 2026 intorno a Westwood Lake è l'evento clou per i runner, e la Nanaimo Open Water Swim e la SwimRun Challenge danno un obiettivo a chi fa multisport.

In bici, quando si vogliono fare chilometri su asfalto separato, si va sul Parkway Trail, sul Trans Canada Trail e sull'E&N Rail Trail.
