Semi-Marathon de Mons
日 10月 4
The Semi-Marathon de Mons begins on the Grand-Place in Mons, in front of the city hall, alongside 10 km and 5 km runs. It takes place in October and is organized by ASBL Semi-Marathon de Mons, which has staged the event since 2018. The day also features a 10 km walk, Joëlette starts, and short children’s races, functioning as a local running festival. The routes depart from the historic center, showing runners both central Mons and the surrounding countryside. The 5 km is open to participants aged 12 and up, the 10 km from age 15, and children aged 4 to 12 can run 500 m or 1 km circuits. Thousands of participants attend annually, assisted by hundreds of volunteers and pacemakers on the course. Profits benefit Télévie, and the event has already contributed tens of thousands of euros to FNRS since its inception.
Semi-marathon de Dinant
日 10月 4
The Semi-marathon de Dinant is a new half marathon scheduled for October in Dinant. The start and finish will be in the city center, alongside the Meuse River. Organizers anticipate over 1,000 participants for this inaugural road race, designed for a wide range of runners. The course is planned to trace the Meuse between Hastière and Dinant, meaning participants will run alongside the river for most of the race, rather than through city streets. The precise route awaits final SPW approval for homologation. Maxime Laloux, also organizer of the Dinant trail, is heading this project with François Weynant and the Brasseur brothers, individuals well-known to local runners.
Brussels Ekiden
土 10月 17
The Brussels Ekiden is a 42-kilometer relay race held in Bruxelles each October. Rather than a single runner completing the entire distance, a team divides the race into segments, with runners taking turns. This format resembles a shared marathon more than an individual road race, drawing from the Japanese long-distance relay tradition of ekiden, which is centered on stage-to-stage running. The exchange of a cloth sash, known as a tasuki, between successive runners defines the ekiden. This practice originates from Japan's historical courier system, where messages were transported between stations. The modern racing adaptation traces its roots to an extended multi-day run between Kyoto and Tokyo. In Japan, ekiden is strongly associated with school, university, prefectural, and corporate teams, and the Brussels event reflects this team-racing culture over the typical mass-start marathon atmosphere.
Aymon trail - Bogny-sur-Meuse
日 2月 14
The Aymon Trail is a February trail-running event held in Bogny-sur-Meuse, Ardennes, primarily utilizing forest paths. The main events include a marathon-distance trail of approximately 42 km with over 2,000 m elevation gain, a 33 km race with about 1,600 m of climbing, and an 18 km race featuring around 800 m of ascent. Organized by K Raid Ardennes, the event also offers shorter children's trails and a 6 km night hike. The courses traverse the hills situated between the Meuse and Semoy valleys, guiding participants through woods, along ridges, up climbs, and past viewpoints overlooking the valleys. The local setting is linked to the Ardennes legend of the Four Sons of Aymon, inspiring the race's name. A recent edition saw over 1,700 registered runners, indicating a strong turnout for a regional trail running weekend.
Aymon Trail
火 2月 16
The Aymon Trail is a February trail race held in Bogny-sur-Meuse, French Ardennes. Winter conditions can make the forest paths challenging and unpredictable. Participants can select from three hilly courses: approximately 18-19 km with 800 m of elevation gain, 32-33 km with 1600 m, or a 42 km marathon route with about 2000 m of climbing. The courses traverse trails between the Meuse and Semoy valleys, ascending to ridges and viewpoints overlooking the Ardennes landscape. The race, established in 2015, incorporates local legend by honoring the four Aymon brothers—Richard, Guichard, Renaud, and Allard—who sought refuge in the massif with the fairy horse Bayard after slaying Charlemagne’s nephew, Berthelet. A statue of the brothers near Bogny-sur-Meuse is visible to runners, lending the event a distinct local character.
Marathon La Fortifiée
日 3月 21
Marathon La Fortifiée begins in Parfondeval, a village in the Thiérache region of Aisne, Hauts-de-France. This late-March road marathon covers the full 42.195 km. A relay option is available for teams wishing to share the distance. The race is closely linked to Parfondeval, recognized as one of France’s most beautiful villages, and is presented as the sole marathon in Aisne. The course combines village roads and rural paths, featuring enough elevation changes to discourage attempts at a personal best. A runner's account characterizes it as a low-key marathon with a pleasant atmosphere, helpful organizers, scenic surroundings, and several charming villages en route. The event maintains a small, local feel, yet its terrain offers more challenge than a flat city marathon.
Leuven Marathon
日 4月 11
The Leuven Marathon is an urban road race held in Leuven, Belgium, on a Sunday in April, starting and finishing at Sportoase. Participants can select from a marathon, half marathon, or 10 km race, catering to both full-distance athletes and those preferring a shorter city run. The course winds through central Leuven, with marathon participants completing an additional loop towards the Brabantse Wouden. Live music, DJs, and numerous spectators line the route, contributing to a city event atmosphere rather than a secluded road race. The inaugural event attracted 17,900 participants in total, comprising approximately 3,300 marathon runners and about 5,700 in the 10 km race. The organizers established the event following the success of the European Running Championships in Leuven, which contributed to its immediate large scale.
L'Enfer Des Nutons
土 4月 24
L'Enfer Des Nutons is a mountain trail race held in Fromelennes, Ardennes, Grand Est region of France, on a weekend at the end of April. The name references the nuton, a creature from Ardennes folklore, and the event incorporates this local legend with the motto “Les Nutons n'ont pas peur du feu!” Participants can select from 6 km, 11 km, 22 km, and 50 km distances, offering a short introduction to trail running alongside a more demanding day in the hills. The distances present significant elevation gains relative to their length: the 6 km route includes approximately 200 m of elevation gain, the 11 km has 450 m, and the 22 km ascends around 1,100 m. The 50 km, noted as the most popular choice, features roughly 2,000 m to 2,400 m of positive elevation, classifying it as a Trail S category for extended mountain races. The shorter distances are designed for novice and intermediate runners, while the 22 km and 50 km cater to those seeking a more challenging Ardennes course with continuous climbs.
Trail l'enfer des nutons - Fromelennes
日 4月 25
Trail l'Enfer des Nutons is a trail-running event in Fromelennes, located in the Ardennes region of northern France, offering races from 6 km to 42 km. The longest route measures 42.31 km with approximately 2,088 m of elevation gain and a similar descent, characterizing it as a challenging mountain-style trail rather than a straightforward forest run. Shorter options include a 22 km race with 1,100 m of climbing, an 11 km with 430 m, and a 6 km with 180 m, providing a progressive progression from introductory distances to a full-length trail. The race embraces its local identity; organizers state it is the sole trail in the Ardennes pointe, situated within a nature reserve and the "land of the Nutons," mythical small figures associated with caves and rocks in Ardennes folklore. Start times are staggered throughout the morning, beginning with the 42 km runners, followed by the 22 km, 11 km, and 6 km participants. Team From Trail manages the event, and the entry fees for the distances are modest, contributing to the atmosphere of a local club race focused on demanding terrain rather than a highly produced mass participation event.
