The WMF BKK AST Süßen Herbstlauf begins and ends at the Kultur- und Sporthalle in Süßen, with the hall accessible from late morning until evening. This late-autumn local running event offers two primary distances: 5 km and 11 km. Additionally, there is a 1.8 km youth run and a 5 km walking route. The youth race starts first, followed by the simultaneous start of the two main runs. The walkers depart a few minutes after the main races. Entry fees for the reported edition were 13 euros for the 5 km and 17 euros for the 11 km. Timing was managed with race numbers featuring rear-mounted transponders.
The 5 km course is named the Bühlrunde, and the 11 km course is the Marrenwaldrunde. Participants select between a shorter, intense effort or a longer loop on the same race afternoon. The venue is approximately one kilometer from Süßen station, making public transport a viable option, though potential delays could pose challenges. The event has a local field, with runners encountering many familiar faces before the start, rather than joining a large, anonymous gathering. Conditions can be quite wintry; the reported race day featured temperatures of 1 degree C and a biting cold wind, making a 2 km warm-up sufficient before the start.
