The Lohelauf is a local running and walking event held in the Stiftungsland Wentorfer Lohe, with all races starting and finishing at the Hundewiese in the Lohe. Taking place in September, the event runs from morning into early afternoon. This year marks the 20th edition of the series, which offers distances for various ages and paces: young children can run 1.5 km, older runners can choose from 3 km, 6 km, or 9 km, and walkers of any age have a 5 km option.
A tent area at the Hundewiese serves as the start, finish, registration, medical station, and awards area. The longer running races utilize repeated 3 km loops, allowing families gathered at the finish to see runners pass through the central spot multiple times. All finishers receive a medal and participation certificate, with the top three also awarded a fruit basket from REWE. Organizers encourage participants to arrive by bicycle, offering ample parking.
