Triathlon Stralsund begins and ends at the Stralsund Strandbad. The swim takes place in the Strelasund, situated between the historic Hanseatic city and the island of Rügen. This event, held in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany, stands as a significant sports gathering in Stralsund and the broader Vorpommern area. Its program accommodates diverse participants, including children's and youth competitions, accessible Jedermann entries for newcomers, age-group contests, sprint and short-distance options, relay teams, and an Olympic-distance format.
The primary courses keep participants near the water. Swimmers navigate the Strelasund, cyclists travel through the Kramerhof municipality, and runners proceed along the waterfront towards the Molenkopf and return. The sprint race involves a 750m swim, a 21km bike ride, and a 5km run. The short distance comprises a 1.5km swim, a 44km bike ride, and a 10km run. Relay teams can divide the tasks across sprint or short-distance routes. Younger athletes compete in shorter formats, such as the 400m swim, 10km bike, and 2.5km run for the Youth B category. Sportbund Hansestadt Stralsund is the organizer, and its consistent staging has established it as a fixture on the city's sports schedule, rather than an isolated beach event.
