Albacete concludes its running calendar on New Year's Eve with the San Silvestre de Albacete, a popular road race for adults and children. The primary event is a short urban run, historically around 6.5 km, with recent formats offering a federated 5K and a non-competitive 6 km option. Established in 2004 with almost 600 finishers, it later attracted over 5,000 participants.
The race commences and concludes on Avenida de España, winding through the city center's main streets. A children's race for those under 14 precedes the main event, featuring shorter distances like 1000 m, 500 m, and 350 m. It combines a festive atmosphere with competition; many participants don costumes, and awards are given to the top three men and women, as well as the most original individual and group costumes. Batucadas and charanga bands provide music along the course.
