Aquathlon de Tain l'Hermitage is a swim-run event in Tain-l'Hermitage, located in the Drôme department of France's Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Held around mid-March, it features two main formats: the XS, comprising a 500 m swim and a 2.5 km road run, and the S, with a 1 km swim followed by a 5 km road run. The format is concise and accessible, with the XS suitable for beginners or quick racers, and the S providing a greater challenge for more experienced participants.
The event takes place between the Rhône River and nearby hills, offering an in-town atmosphere with proximity to the water. Dedicated courses are available for children and juniors, allowing families to extend the event into a full race weekend rather than just an adult competition. Post-race, the region offers several accessible activities: Hermitage vineyards and tastings are close by, Tournon-sur-Rhône is across the river, the Palais Idéal du Facteur Cheval is in Hauterives, and hiking opportunities exist in the Vercors regional park.
