The Course des Lions in Néac directs runners almost straight into the Lalande-de-Pomerol vineyards, starting and finishing at the Salle des Fêtes in the village. This spring event uses nature paths within the commune, with minimal asphalt. Participants can select a 10 km trail, a 20 km trail, or a 2 x 10 km relay for teams of two. Walking options include 5 km and 10 km, making the day suitable for families, regular hikers, clubs, workplace groups, local runners, and trail specialists.
The course winds through vineyard rows, dirt tracks, and paths near châteaux. The 10 km route is kept rolling and accessible, with small climbs. The 20 km distance introduces moderate elevation and uneven terrain, presenting the main sporting challenge. The walks share the vineyard setting, with the longer walk intended for more experienced walkers. The event, presented by the Lions Club of Saint-Emilion, includes aid stations and entertainment, with potential wine tasting post-race. Profits support the fight against childhood cancer. Participants are asked to bring a reusable cup, and Joëlettes are permitted.
