The Nivelle Triathlon takes place in late April at the lake of Saint-Pée-sur-Nivelle, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine. It attracts nearly 800 competitors across five categories and distances, including youth races, XS formats, and short-course racing, rather than a single event for one group.
The competition centers on Lac de Saint-Pée, with local traffic management extending to the RD918 between the lake and Olha roundabouts during the time-trial segment. Aviron Bayonnais organizes the event, which was established to revive the historic Saint-Pée-sur-Nivelle triathlon. The participant range is wide for a local triathlon, with young athletes, short-distance racers, club members, and returning participants all using the same lakeside location.
