Trail de Pleyben
The Trail de Pleyben begins and concludes at Gymnase Pierre Cloarec in Pleyben, Finistère, offering four trail races. Organized by APEL Saint Joseph de Pleyben, this event marks its 21st year and serves as the concluding stage of the Challenge Armorik Trail. The primary Canal PopKorn race covers 44.5 km with 1,250 m of elevation gain, intended for experienced, well-prepared runners, not novices.
The long course departs Pleyben via local paths and woodland tracks, descending towards the Nantes-Brest Canal and its towpath. It continues past Pont-Coblant before proceeding through Gouézec to Roche du Feu, reaching an altitude of 281 m. Following a swift, technical wooded descent back towards the canal, participants will pass the Victor, a navigational monument, then ascend towards Pleyben on trails through Lennon. The course combines technical terrain, runnable sections, ascents, and descents. A two-person Canal PopKorn relay divides the distance into 18.5 km and 26 km segments, with a limit of 50 teams.
Plogastrail - Plogastel-Saint-Germain
The Plogastrail de Plogastel-Saint-Germain is a Sunday morning trail event held in Plogastel-Saint-Germain, Finistère, offering races for runners and walking routes. The primary race covers 22 km, with 12 km and 5 km options available for those preferring shorter distances.
The 22 km course begins near the honor stadium before entering the undergrowth and country paths surrounding Plogastel-Saint-Germain. One past event saw 750 participants: 250 ran the 22 km, 350 the 12 km, and 150 the 5 km, alongside children and approximately 120 walkers. Registration was closed to ensure the safety and order of the races, with local associations assisting in trail maintenance, security, and event operation.
Course au large - Fouesnant
The Course au large - Fouesnant is a local race in Fouesnant, organized by Sport Nature Aventure. The source provides no distance or route details, but indicates a community event with civic and military guests, rather than a race primarily described through elite results.
Twelve sailors from the French Navy training ship Chacal participated, led by their commander, Ensign Foucauld Redoulez, as part of the French Navy’s 400th anniversary. Anne-Marie Quéméner, the first Fouesnant woman, received a special prize: the Chacal’s tape de bouche, presented by the ship’s commander. Ensign Clothilde Simon, then training at ISAE in Toulouse, also received a prize, presented by Bruno Merrien, Fouesnant’s first deputy mayor.
Trail de Saint-Alouarn - Guengat
Foulées guengataises
Foulées Guengataises takes place in February in Guengat, a village in Finistère, Brittany. It is a local race day featuring short children’s runs, adult running options, and an 8 km walk or hike.
The main race is La Guengataise at 15.5 km, with approximately 210 metres of elevation gain. An 8 km race is also offered with about 120 metres of climbing. Shorter 1 km and 1.7 km options are available for younger participants. The event appears to be a community-focused Breton gathering with reasonable entry fees, organised locally, where runners and walkers share the same morning in Guengat.
Les Boucles du Steir
Les Boucles du Steir was a city road event in Quimper, Finistère, Brittany. Scheduled for mid-February, it featured a 10 km road race and two walking events, catering to both runners and walkers, not exclusively competitive road racers.
The 10 km run followed a single 10 km loop through Quimper’s streets. Walkers could select the same 10 km loop or a shorter 5 km loop. A past edition attracted over 500 participants. The event is no longer held; it was succeeded by the Ar Meilhou Glaz Trail, which continues a race presence in the city with a different format.
La nordique de Lorient
La Nordique de Lorient takes place at Stade du Pouillot on allée du Village de Kérulvé in Lorient, Brittany. It is a Nordic walking event on a circuit, with the main programme typically featuring an open walk and a timed MNCC race in early April. The open walk covers 7.5 km, while the MNCC is 12.5 km and serves as a qualifier for the French Championships. Licensed FFA runners and competition walkers are classified for the national Nordic walking tour ranking.
The MNCC course consists of five 2.5 km loops around the Pouillot circuit, allowing spectators and support crews to see walkers multiple times. The event welcomes a wide range of participants, not exclusively specialists, and its open format includes newer Nordic walkers alongside competitive athletes. A 10:30 improvement workshop is available for those registered for the open walk, and an introductory workshop is open to all before the races. Lorient Athlétisme Club established the event for its Nordic walking group, and local media reported it as the first Nordic walking race in Lorient.
Run à l'Orient
Run à l'Orient begins next to the former submarine base at La Base in Lorient, a port city in Morbihan on France's Brittany coast. This early-March road race takes place by the sea, featuring city courses for adults and separate races for children and juniors. The primary distances offered are 5 km, 10 km, and a longer option described as either a half marathon or a 20 km urban trail, catering to both newer runners seeking a short goal and experienced runners wanting a more challenging course.
The event is structured with several start waves: children run first, followed closely by the 10 km, 20 km, and 5 km races. The 10 km is a single loop, while the 5 km and 20 km formats offer relay options, making the event suitable for both teams and individual participants. The location is a key attraction: runners begin in Lorient's submarine-base area and follow a coastal city route, distinct from rural trails or stadium circuits. Bib collection is available on-site; organizers encourage participants to pick up their bibs on Saturday to avoid potentially longer waits on Sunday.
Run à l'orient - Lorient
Run à l'Orient is a road race held in Lorient, Brittany. The event features several short-to-medium distances: the K20 covers 20.2 km with 82 m of elevation gain, the K10 is 10.6 km with 44 m, and the K5 is 5 km with 9 m. A 5 km relay is also offered for those who prefer not to run an individual race.
The day includes children’s races of 450 m, 900 m, and 1.3 km, all categorized as sub-5 km running events. The adult races are divided into 5 km, 10 km, and 20 km categories, with the longer routes appearing relatively flat. RUN A LORIENT organizes the series, presenting a focused local race day rather than a singular main event.
Trail Entre Mer Et Terre - Ploemeur
Trail Entre Mer Et Terre is a running event in Ploemeur, Morbihan. Its next edition is scheduled for March, with the specific date yet to be confirmed. The event features two distances: an 18 km race commencing at 15:00 and a 5 km race starting at 16:00.
The race format provides participants with a choice between a longer run and a shorter late-afternoon option. The name translates to “between sea and land,” reflecting Ploemeur’s coastal setting in Brittany. However, the current listing lacks detailed course descriptions or terrain specifics.
Course nature - Calan
The Nature Calan is a trail race in Calan, a commune in Morbihan, Brittany. It takes place in April with two distances: 12.4 km and 4 km, suitable for regular trail runners and those seeking a compact local race.
The 12.4 km route is a single loop on local hiking paths, consisting of about 90% trail and 10% road. The main race begins in the early evening. All finishers receive a reward, and a recent edition saw record participation, indicating this is a well-supported local running event.
Foulées de Plomeur
Foulées de Plomeur is a local running event in Plomeur, Finistère, Brittany, organized by Courir à Plomeur. The schedule includes timed 4.9 km and 9.9 km races, an 8-9 km hike, and three children’s races for ages 4-5, 6-8, and 9-12. The main races are open to cadets, juniors, seniors, masters, club-licensed runners, and runners without a licence, serving as both a community race day and a regular stop on the Breton running calendar.
The courses combine road sections with hiking trails; both adult distances are approximately half road and half nature. The longer race consists of two 5 km loops and includes a refreshment point. Kilometre markers and marshals at intersections ensure the route is clear. Children can register on site with signed parental permission. Hikers and runners can sign up online or on the day. The event donates 1 euro from each bib to Rêves de Marmouz.
