Granfondo dei Laghi della Garfagnana 2026

The Granfondo dei Laghi della Garfagnana begins at 8:00 AM from Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, located in the mountain region of northern Tuscany. This amateur road cycling event is organized by Tuscany Legend SSD and is affiliated with the Italian Cycling Federation. Participants can select either the 102 km Granfondo, featuring 2,383 meters of elevation gain, or the 78 km Mediofondo, with 1,650 meters of climbing. Registration is open from January until late June, and the event is open to licensed Italian amateurs and foreign amateurs holding a UCI-recognized national federation license. The longer route includes three timed ascents: Castelnuovo to Careggine, Vagli, and Vicaglia-Orecchiella. The shorter route incorporates the Vagli and Vicaglia-Orecchiella climbs, still presenting a significant challenge in the hills. The roads ascend past tranquil lakes, dense forests, and offer expansive vistas of the Garfagnana area. Some participants aim to achieve their best times, others are drawn by the scenery, and some use the event to reconnect with their cycling companions.
