Passo Tonale hosts the ION Cup 2 tappa, the second of four events in a mountain-bike circuit focused on timed gravity racing. The weekend separates participants by age: Saturday features the Junior ION Cup for riders 6 to 14, limited to 150 participants, and Sunday is for older juniors and adults. The event welcomes enduro, downhill, and e-bike riders, uniting various bike types and downhill riding styles.
The junior race covers a 1 km downhill track accessible by ski lift, featuring two timed gravity runs where only the best time counts. The Sunday race includes three timed gravity stages, also accessed by lift. This format aims to balance technique and speed, rather than solely rewarding one riding style. The event also accommodates families, with its appeal lying in the shared cycling weekend atmosphere as much as the competition among downhill, enduro, and e-bike participants.
