Medio Fondo del Piccolo Stelvio 2027

The Medio Fondo del Piccolo Stelvio begins in Canneto Pavese, a town in the province of Pavia situated at the base of the Oltrepò Pavese hills. This cycling tourism event, held in late April, is organized by Gruppo Ciclistico Avis Pavia under ACSI Ciclismo. It follows a controlled group pace, not an open race format. The event has seen approximately forty editions and has previously held the title of the National Cycling Tourism Championship. The route crosses the rolling Oltrepò Pavese countryside, moving towards the border of the province of Piacenza, in the region between Lombardy and Emilia. Recent iterations feature a single course spanning approximately 70 to 83 km, including five ascents and around 1,200 to 1,300 meters of elevation gain, classifying it as medium difficulty. Its distinctive element is the winding climb known as Piccolo Stelvio, a local counterpart to the renowned Alpine pass. Support vehicles escort the group for safety, a refreshment stop is provided along the route, and the finish line upholds the customary porchetta party tradition.
