The TT Marathon is an autumn road marathon held in and around Assen, located in the Dutch province of Drenthe. Its distinctive feature for a running race is that the route passes three former TT circuits, connecting the marathon to the motor-racing history that has defined this area for nearly a century. A half marathon is also included, allowing participants to select either the full distance or a shorter race on the same TT-themed day.
The course crosses the Drenthe landscape surrounding Assen, avoiding a typical big-city environment. The TT Circuit and the old racing routes provide the event with a distinct local character. Initially conceived as a special event for the TT centenary, the inaugural edition generated sufficient interest for organizers to continue it as a regular autumn marathon. The objective is to develop it into an annual event attracting thousands of participants, bringing together marathon runners, half-marathoners, TT enthusiasts, and local residents who appreciate a race centered on Assen’s sporting heritage.
