Lavkarittet is a mountain bike race in Storfjord, Northern Norway, typically held on the second weekend in August. The main race covers approximately 67.5 kilometres from Hatteng to Skibotn, featuring around 1,200 metres of elevation gain, presenting a challenging mountain route rather than a simple gravel path. A shorter 30 km option is available, but the established Lavkarittet is the extended course crossing the mountain between the two valleys.
The course begins in Hatteng, ascending the Kitdal valley towards a peak near 800 metres elevation, then descends into Skibotndalen before concluding in Skibotn village. Participants encounter technical climbs, swift descents, and the open terrain of the northern Norwegian mountains. Approximately 160 riders typically participate in this established race, with competitors traveling from throughout Norway and internationally, positioning it among the significant mountain bike events in Northern Norway. Professional cyclist Tiril Jørgensen from Harstad has competed multiple times, highlighting the blend of community and natural surroundings as the event's appeal.
