Karlstad XC is a family-friendly mountain bike race held at Skutberget, west of Karlstad in Värmland, on the first Saturday in September. Participants can choose from three distances: 60 km for a challenging ride, 35 km for a varied group of cyclists, and 10 km for children aged approximately 7 to 15. The event caters to elite riders, fast club cyclists, amateurs, families, and younger riders seeking an off-road experience.
The course consists of three loops through pine forest on sandy terrain, offering fast, flowing riding with minimal roots or stones. The 60 km race passes the stadium twice, the 35 km race once, and the 10 km race concludes after the first loop. This setup allows spectators to see riders multiple times from a single location. The race was established to promote cycling enjoyment and encourage use of Värmland’s trails, with participants frequently noting the smooth course and the quality of the 60 km route.
