Harold Stevens Athletic Track provides the start for this annual club race: spikes-and-lanes territory, then out into the parklands where the surface changes under your feet. The Coburg Harriers Bluestone Classic feels like the sort of local fixture runners keep on the calendar because it mixes club grit with a relaxed, open field for members and non-members alike.
The route combines the "challenge of the athletic track," "scenic bike paths," and "natural trails through the parklands," so it is not just a flat lap-and-done outing. Expect rhythm changes as you move from track to path to "cross-country trails," with enough variety to keep your legs honest and the finish line back at the track giving it that familiar club-race kick.
