Race for Life Norwich Pretty Muddy 5k
Race for Life Norwich Pretty Muddy 5k takes participants over a muddy obstacle course at the Norfolk Showground. The venue is decorated with pink clothing and fundraising signs. This event is part of Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life programme, which offers 3k, 5k, 10k, Pretty Muddy, and Pretty Muddy Kids events. The Norwich weekend attracts close to 4,000 people of all ages. Locally, Race for Life and Pretty Muddy events have raised £471,885 to date for cancer research. The course prioritizes getting messy together for a personal cause over achieving a fast time. Many participants run, jog, or walk to honour cancer survivors or in memory of those lost to the disease. Race for Life started in 1994, with over 10 million people participating across the UK since its inception. Funds generated by the series have contributed to research in radiotherapy, the HPV vaccine, and clinical trials that influenced the use of tamoxifen in breast cancer treatment.
