In this close community, the Dover Fun Run originated from a family’s long-standing wish to contribute to the town after the Skinner family faced difficulties. It started in 2019, stemming from gratitude for neighbors, family, and "strangers who became lifelines" during Annabelle's care at the Royal Hobart Hospital Paediatric ICU.
The atmosphere emphasizes family, fun, impact, and thankfulness, with participants running for reasons beyond their finish time. It represents a genuine thank-you to the doctors, nurses, and the "quiet strength of the PICU team," and to a community that moved from discussing contributions to actively running for a cause.
