About this race
The Run Bibbulmun Track Stage Race is a three-day trail running event on the Bibbulmun Track in Western Australia's Great Southern region, held over a long weekend in late October. The race covers point-to-point sections between Denmark and Walpole, offering two daily distances: the Karri Long Course, approximately 33 to 39 km per stage, and the Tingle Short Course, about 17 to 24 km per stage. It is designed for solo participants, with a maximum of 200 runners. The format was simplified from the earlier Great Southern Stage Run to allow individual entries, removing the need to form a team.
The course crosses karri forest, granite headlands, remote beaches, and the Southern Ocean coastline, passing landmarks like Greens Pool and Elephant Rock. Daily stages include segments from Valley of the Giants to Peaceful Bay, Nullaki to Cosy Corner, and Prawn Rock Dog Beach or Greens Pool back to central Denmark. Each afternoon, runners return to Denmark. Rapid Ascent manages the race logistics, contributing to a shared trail-running trip atmosphere rather than a typical race. The format is based on the Run Larapinta Stage Race model, featuring multi-day running, challenging terrain, and ample time spent with the same group of runners between stages.
