The Havelberg Triathlon takes place by the harbor in Havelberg, Sachsen-Anhalt. The swim is in the Havel River, with the start, finish, and transition areas located nearby. RSC 1891 Orkan Havelberg e.V. organizes the event, which includes sprint and short-distance races for individuals and relays. The sprint involves a 750 m swim, 22 km bike, and 5 km run. The short distance covers 1.44 km swimming, 44 km cycling, and 10 km running. Shorter student races, plus Swim & Bike and Bike & Run options, are also available for those not wishing to complete a full triathlon.
The course keeps athletes and spectators close to the old harbor throughout the day. The run route follows the harbor and passes through the competition arena. The event organizers describe the bike course as challenging and quick, not simply a flat route. The competition is designed for a broad spectrum of participants: children, juniors, adults, relay teams, and age-group athletes are all catered for. The "Little Harbor Triathlon" offers a dedicated race for the youngest participants, highlighting the organizers' emphasis on family sport. Camping on the Spülinsel, near the run course, contributes to the condensed race-weekend atmosphere. The event also serves as the state championships for the Olympic distance.
