The Waiblinger Triathlon offers Waiblingen, a district of Stuttgart, a compact sprint race: 500 meters swimming, 20 km cycling, and a 5.4 km run. Held in May and organized by VfL Waiblingen Triathlon, it features individual starts, relay teams, a low-cost introductory triathlon for newcomers, and races for children and juniors. The main sprint distance is suitable for less experienced triathletes, yet the three-discipline format still requires strategic pacing across the swim, bike, and run segments.
The event attracts a diverse field, not exclusively specialists. Recent years have seen approximately 400 adult individual participants and about 60 relay teams. Relay racing is integrated into the program, and the Volkstriathlon has also hosted company sports championships. The race has hosted participants from the RACEPEDIA-Cup and the ALB-GOLD Triathlonliga, meaning club competitors share the event with beginners and workplace teams. Sprint and relay finishers receive a memento, and athletes participating in the short Swim&Run in Winnenden are automatically entered into the Dieter-Waller-Pokal competition.
