The KN Förde Triathlon's races begin and end on Kiel’s Kiellinie at Seebad Düsternbrook, situated by the water in Schleswig-Holstein. This summer triathlon, organized by USC Kiel, features a flat course with options for both fast team racing and standard age-group competitions. The Elite and U23 athletes compete in a three-person supersprint relay, covering 300 metres swimming, 5.5 km cycling, and 1.7 km running per person. Individual age-group participants undertake a sprint race consisting of 500 metres swimming, 22 km cycling, and 5 km running.
The participant list prioritizes broad participation over a singular elite focus. Approximately 400 spots are available for the individual sprint, 140 for the Elite/U23 supersprint relay, and 40 for the sprint relay. Age-group and "Jedermann" entries welcome everyday racers, with participants ranging from 16 to 80 years old. The city's sport councilor, Gerwien Stöcken, acts as patron. Volksbanken Raiffeisenbanken provides sponsorship, and the local bike shop, Picocycles, offers road-bike service and a #TeamPico workshop near the Kiellinie.
