About
Villapark Várgesztes served as the event center, with the Vértes forests nearby, allowing participants to run towards the 13th-century stonework of Gesztesi Vár and Vitányvár. The 2024 European Orienteering Championships also functioned as a World Cup round, drawing a field not only of continental caliber but also athletes from across the globe, creating a truly high-level international competition.
The races utilized the "challenging Vértes terrains," featuring Szárliget and Zuppa for selection races, and Csókakő-Csákberény for the middle final and long distance. These areas presented flat highlands, long ridges, and intricate details that penalize excessive speed. Alongside the elite competitions, the Hungaria Cup offered a spectator race for competitors, team officials, and spectators, including a contest for the sought-after yellow jersey, along with side events such as Microsprint, Mobile-O, and the Beer-O relay.
