100 Km del Passatore 2026

The 100 Km del Passatore is a 100-kilometer road ultramarathon from Florence to Faenza, run on the last Saturday of May since 1973. It begins in the afternoon, carrying runners into the following day, so all participants share the same long night on the road. The race is named for Il Passatore, a historical and folkloric figure from Romagna, and its initial concept was to link the Chianti region with the Sangiovese region. The route departs Florence toward Fiesole, reaching the SR 302 near the Vetta le Croci pass, then following the historic road toward Romagna. The most challenging landmark is Colla di Casaglia, the race's high point at 913 meters and also the 48 km checkpoint; other key checkpoints are at Borgo San Lorenzo and Marradi. The initial stretch from Florence is closed to traffic, while later sections utilize roads that have changed over time due to vehicular traffic. The race was established by local organizers including Alteo Dolcini, Paolo Babini, Pietro Crementi, and Primo Solaroli, and it has hosted world, European, and Italian ultramarathon championships. Its field includes dedicated ultrarunners alongside individuals drawn by the distinct, straightforward challenge of crossing the Tuscan-Romagnol Apennines through the night.
