Tonami de Rogaining begins and ends at the North Gate of Tonami Tulip Park in Tonami City, Toyama Prefecture. This four-hour rogaining event takes place in late May. Teams use a map to select checkpoints throughout the city and devise their own routes. Prior to the start, participants are given their maps and a brief period for strategy, making the race as much about planning as it is about running or walking. The competition area covers all of Tonami City, and this event marks its tenth year. It is designed for both newcomers and experienced participants, with families encouraged to attend. The family course adapts the format into a town walk, guiding participants to sweet shops and other local businesses. A corporate challenge division offers workplace teams a social, low-pressure opportunity to participate. Popular challenges are back, and organizers introduce new ones, ensuring repeat participants encounter fresh tasks rather than simply retracing the same city circuit.
