The Brijderloop is a recreational performance run in Alkmaar focused on recovery, mental health, and ordinary people who enjoy running. Its main races are 5 km and 10 km, with a participant limit of 500. It also includes kids' races over 400 m, 800 m, and 1,200 m for children aged 5 to 12.
The event started over 20 years ago, as running therapy is part of addiction recovery at Brijder addiction care. Reakt has organized it since 2018 with local athletics partners Hylas and Achilles. Participants include people with addiction histories, those with psychological vulnerability, club runners, families, and casual runners. The children's races are divided by age group, with separate podiums for boys and girls. Awards for the kids' races and the 5 km and 10 km races are presented once the last runner finishes.
