Egmond Halve Marathon

The Egmond Half Marathon starts the new year in Egmond aan Zee, a North Sea village in North Holland. Participants can choose between a 10 km run and the half marathon. Shorter races for youth and adapted athletes are also included. This is a large-scale event, with an entry limit of 18,500. Late entries are not available, and all distances may sell out before the race. The course presents a distinctly Dutch challenge, featuring beach, dunes, cold wind, and sand, unlike a typical fast city course. The half marathon route incorporates the coast and dune areas surrounding Egmond. Competitors often embrace the weather as an integral part of the challenge. A separate Pre-Run event in Egmond-Binnen offers 1,000 participants the chance to run 8 km or 16 km routes that include beach, dunes, forest, heath, and short, steep ascents, providing a preview of the main race's demanding conditions.
