Punterloop Giethoorn

Punterloop Giethoorn is an evening running event held in Giethoorn, a village in Overijssel, offering races for recreational runners over approximately 2 km, 5 km, 10 km, and a half marathon. Organized since 1973, it resumed its place on the calendar after a hiatus of over twenty years. The event accommodates a broad range of participants: children, novices, club athletes, seasoned amateurs, and faster runners can each select a distance suitable for their abilities. The courses commence and conclude at the sports grounds of SV Giethoorn SE, directing participants into the historic village instead of confining them to a simple road circuit. A significant portion of the route crosses the older section of Giethoorn and crosses its numerous small bridges, imbuing the race with a distinct local character. The paths are indicated by colored markers, timing is managed professionally, and all finishers are awarded a medal.
