The Rotary Santa Run Bennekom is a charity walk-and-run in Bennekom where participants wear Santa Claus costumes. It is designed for a wide audience, not just runners. Experienced runners can select the longer course, casual participants can walk, and those with strollers or walkers are welcome. The event provides three distance options: 12 km, 7 km, and 3 km. For younger children, organizers offer a puzzle tour instead of a traditional run.
The charity beneficiary is Kinderdorp Bennekom, a holiday play week for children aged 6 to 12. Approximately 150 volunteers supervise the children, with hut-building as the primary activity, supplemented by tents for other pursuits on site. Its guiding principle, “Nothing is mandatory and (almost) everything is allowed,” aligns with the Santa Run’s informal structure: the aim is to encourage movement in costume, generate local funds, and ensure the event is accessible for families.
