Run For Ukraine is a solidarity run at Haag Atletiek in The Hague, held on Ukraine's Independence Day. Almost a thousand runners participate, making it feel like a community gathering as much as a race. People run together across ages and backgrounds, with the day tied directly to Ukraine's freedom and ongoing fight for survival.
The run is built around remembrance and protest, not just finishing times. Participants run in memory of civilians killed in Ukraine, against the occupation and destruction of Ukrainian cities, and in honor of the defenders who died protecting the country. For VATAHA, it is one of the group's annual traditions, with roots going back several years before the current war became a daily headline across Europe.
