Tot de Nek in de Drek is a muddy obstacle run in Vriezenveen, Overijssel, with routes from 1.5 to 15 kilometers. The name translates to "up to your neck in the muck," and the race embraces this with mud, water, ditches, country roads, and farmyards integrated into the course. It takes place in summer and offers short parent-child options alongside longer distances for older kids, adults, teams, and company groups.
The youngest participants can enter the 1.5 km Lammetjes Run with a parent, while the 2.5 km Kuuk'n en Kip Loop is another parent-child race for children aged 6 to 9. The 5 km Bigg'n Tocht is open to a broader range of participants, listed for ages 9 to 99. Safety personnel are stationed at obstacles, and drink stations provide water, bananas, or currant buns. Registration includes camouflage face paint, a headband, and a medal. The inaugural event attracted 1,750 participants, closed registration upon reaching capacity, and drew approximately 10,000 spectators, indicating the mud is only part of the appeal; the food court and evening entertainment in the party tent also contribute to its village event atmosphere.
