The Wasvenloop is a modest half marathon held in Nuenen, Brabant, crossing the Dommel valley. It begins in the morning during May. The primary event offers a distinct format: a duo or trio can jointly complete the half marathon, with one participant running and the other one or two cycling. Roles can be exchanged at any point and with any frequency. Individuals may also run the entire half marathon solo. For walkers, there are separate 10 km and 16 km courses. Registration is limited to 100 participants, who must be at least 18 years old. The half marathon does not feature official timekeeping.
The course primarily follows paved paths, with approximately 15% on cart tracks, lending itself to relaxed country running rather than a competitive road race. This format is well-suited for pairs or small groups wishing to journey through the valley together, as well as for solo runners unconcerned with chip times. Provisions from the Wasven bakery, including drinks and snacks, are provided, with refreshments available at stations along the route and post-race. Participants are required to remain on the marked course, adhere to traffic regulations, and manage waste and toilet breaks responsibly.
