The Arctic Triple - Lofoten Triathlon Olympic+ begins and ends in Svolvær on Austvågøy, with a field limited to 250 athletes. This 58 km triathlon presents more challenge than a standard Olympic distance: a 1500 m swim in the harbor, a 45 km bike course, and a 12 km run ascending Tjeldbergtinden.
The swim has a 75-minute cutoff, and the bike cutoff is at 4.5 hours from the start. The course includes 1100 m of total elevation gain. Cyclists travel to Laupstad and back to Svolvær, after which runners ascend the 367 m peak of Tjeldbergtinden. The entire course is marked, and the finish line passes through a traditional fish rack, a distinctive Lofoten tradition for concluding a demanding mountain and harbor triathlon.
