The Clyde Classic is a running and walking event in Clyde, a former gold-mining town in Central Otago, New Zealand. It offers a half marathon, 10K, 5K, and a kids race, with every distance starting and finishing at Clyde Primary School. The half marathon is a 21.1 km run-only race, while the 10K and 5K are open to both runners and walkers. The shorter options make the event suitable for families, first-timers, and people who want a community event rather than a competitive race day.
The course uses Clyde’s old town streets, crosses the Contact Energy Clyde Dam, and follows tracks beside the Clutha River. The half marathon includes vineyard views and rural-trail loops, while the 10K and 5K follow shorter routes through town, over the dam, and along the river paths. Aid stations are provided on the longer distances, but the event is cup-free, so participants bring their own cup or bottle for refills. The race also has a community-giving focus, with local involvement built into the day.
