Sobre esta carrera
Maraton Rowerowy Dookoła Polski is a Polish ultra-cycling series focused on riding the perimeter of the country. The full version requires participants to cover approximately 3,200 km within a 240-hour, ten-day limit. The series operates on a four-year cycle, allowing riders to complete sections like West, Mountains, and East before attempting the entire loop. Races begin in Ząbki near Warsaw, though segment races may start elsewhere, such as the western route exceeding 1,040 km from Rozewie to Świeradów-Zdrój.
The complete ride averages 320 km daily for ten consecutive days. The challenge lies not in a single immense stage, but in sustaining high daily mileage while managing basic needs like eating, sleeping, and navigation. The course crosses numerous Polish regions, and the western edition might incorporate the German side of the Oder River between Słubice and Gubin. It attracts the most dedicated ultra-cyclists, with Maciej Paterak describing MRDP as Poland's most demanding ultramarathon. Within the Polish ultra scene, it holds a cult following due to being the first race of its kind and its strict time limit, which allows minimal leeway for poor nights, equipment issues, or extended breaks.
